Look on any high street and you’ll probably see a shop that sells E-cigarettes in just about every ‘flavour’ you can imagine.
They are touted as the safer alternative to smoking and helping people to quit, but this Stoptober, I wanted to write a blog exploring how safe E-cigarettes are really, and how hypnotherapy can help you quit smoking, in all its forms, for good.
What are E-cigarettes?
They are battery powered devices that give users a hit of nicotine without the tobacco smoke that contains many known cancer-causing chemicals. They entered the UK market in 2007, and their popularity has grown rapidly, especially since the introduction of the smoking ban.
How safe are E-cigarettes really?
They might be safer than cigarettes but that doesn’t mean they’re completely safe. A 2016 study found that there were potentially harmful and irritating emissions in the vapour, though in far lower levels than cigarettes.
Public Health England said that even though E-cigarettes are probably not completely safe, for most users, smoking is the less safe alternative. The fact that over half of E-cigarette users used to be smokers does suggest that they’re a useful tool when you’re trying to quit.

During a session, you will be put into a deeply relaxed state. When you’re under hypnosis, your subconscious is more open to suggestion. When we feed the subconscious with positive suggestions and affirmation, unhealthy behaviours and automatic habits will no longer be your default setting. For example, if you feel the need to smoke each time you have a coffee, hypnosis can work on changing this pattern and replacing the unhealthy association with a healthier one.
