When clients come to me with physical pain or chronic health conditions, I always talk to them about stress because they don’t necessarily equate their back pain with feeling low, or their headaches or stomach ache with being anxious. Sometimes I can see a little light bulb moment where they realise that stress is the underlying cause of things they might have been taking medication for over a number of years.

If you’re your own worst critic, you might end up with pain in your neck. Start working on being compassionate towards yourself. Forgive yourself, forgive others, and you might just find some peace (and pain relief.)

Shoulder pain

Many people hold stress in their shoulders, or have ‘the weight of the world on their shoulders’ as the saying goes. If you have shoulder pain, you’re carrying a burden. Do you always try to do everything yourself? It might be time to ask for some help.

The upper back is related to emotional support, and if you have pain there, it signals that you don’t feel loved or supported. Reach out to your family and friends, go out on a date, and show the world everything you have to offer.

Do you often let your ego get the better of you? Are you a little too proud of your own achievements at times? This could be behind your niggly knee. Of course it’s not a bad thing to feel good about something you’ve achieved, just be sure to let others have their moment in the spotlight too.

Calf pain

Are you holding a grudge, feeling jealous or envious, and not taking the time to appreciate what you have? That’s what might be causing that pesky pain in your calf. Learn to let things go and be grateful for what you have and you might notice the pain just goes away.

Ankle pain

Do you deny yourself things in life? Do you resist eating treats? Do you not buy yourself things because you feel it’s indulgent? Well now might be the time to relax a little and allow yourself some of the good things in life.

Foot pain

Pain in the feet is linked to negative thoughts and feelings. To combat this, look for the little moments of joy in your everyday life that often get overlooked; like feeling the sun on your face or your first sip of coffee in the morning. The more joy you discover, the less pain you’ll feel in your body.
